This project was set up to help people with disabilities and those from disadvantaged backgrounds to feel valued for their contribution. It began through the enthusiasm and determination of Harvey Sayce, who started up ‘Feathered Friends’, buying in bird seed, bagging it up, and selling it at some local shops and farmers markets.

The project is open to other organisations that support people with disabilities, particularly those just leaving education. The aim of the project is to give all involved a sense of purpose, and to enable them to become contributing members of the team, rather than someone who requires a service.

All of the seed is ethically sourced, we provide a mix of seeds that birds would find growing in their natural habitat.

We welcome the involvement of colleges and other educational organisations, and can provide Country Classroom facilities at EnviroAbility’s Model Farm Project Hub.

‘Spread Our Wings’ birdseed, Hedgehog pellets, Fat-balls and Bird Boxes are now available to purchase at a number of outlets in settings throughout the county. Gift Baskets can be made to order, and are particularly popular as Christmas gifts.
